East Paradise

The fifth collection theme this season is called East Paradise. Tribal natives meeting a researcher at a biosphere study lab. That’s the inspiration. Think Garden of Eden, through times, a place so lush that life is simple. The colour scheme is vegetal bright – From neutral olive to apple and purple, with gold and mellow yellow tones. We work with tie and dip dyed fabrics, coloured and metallic leathers, intarsia, frayed denim, raw linens and casual cottons. Details like patchwork, piecing, animal and ethnic prints, lurex sparkle and raw edges are what makes the theme. Key items for the look are aprons, handmade tees, bold patterned garments, checked peasant blouses, easy draped dresses, printed play-suits, head wraps and bucket hats. A total hit this summer!

Here’s some inspiration from the runway:

Need some positive energy?

One of our collection themes this season is called Positive Energy. Renewable fuel and climate control are the sources of inspiration. The line is both spiritual and scientific featuring clean crisp lines and functional materials. The colours are light, fresh and pure. Clear blue, fresh green and cool grey mixed with whitened shades of coral, pale yellow and optical white. Important items are sheer sweaters, woven tees and tanks, white jeans, silky pants, body suits, boleros and windbreakers all with details such as punched out lace, seaming and piecing, visible seams, ocean motifs, stripes, dots and colour blocking.  Materials are ultra fine stretch jersey, grey mélange knits, jersey, mesh, faded and bleached out denims, chiffon, nylon, washed silks and crinkle gauzes.

If you want to know other designers take on positive energy, here are some pics:

Romantic garden preview

Our second collection of spring 2010 is called Romantic Garden. The look features a Provencal gardener meeting a water colorist at the Botanical Garden. The inspiration is from Claude Monets vibrant paintings. It’s all about mixing stripes with flowers, preferably with a vintage feeling. The color scheme goes from soft and pretty shady colors and light yellow tones to different pinks, blues and lilacs. Favourite items such as straw hats, feminine cardigans, lace tees, cotton dresses, sheer water colored blouses, full and rounded skirts, cropped pants and shorts with floral prints carries the whole collection. We use materials like cottton (gingham, stripes and plaids) eyelets and dotted swiss, washed linnens, poplin, twill and seersucker and the most characteristic features are paper bag waist, large polka dots, railroad stripes, painterly prints and lingerie details. I for one can’t wait for spring!

A taste of spring

The winter has barely started, but this weekend I could somehow sense spring in the air. So just to share that feeling – her is a sneak preview from our first spring collection theme. We call it:

Feeling of freedom
The look is inspired by a modern day venue meeting the lingerie models of the 50’s. Like Grace Kelly versus John Currins least said naked ladies. On a nudist beach! Does it sound weird? It isn’t. The collection is all about skin colours and shades like cream, light pink, cocoa butter and nude. With key items such as sheer tees and tanks, dimensional blouses, goddess like dresses, fluid bottoms, second skin pants and dance wear styles. We work with wrappings & ties, folds, gathers & ruffles as well as  asymmetry. Dominant materials are ultra fine, soft & shiny jersey knits, crochet & openwork knits, flimsy chiffon, lace, mesh & tulle.

Our prediction is that this will definately be a big trend this upcoming spring. And judging by what some of the great fashion houses show in their collections, so do they. Take a look at this:

Jeans or leggings? Try jeggings.

The jegging trend might not be new but it has for sure been breaking ground this season. Also dividing the world of fashion in two – for or against. The experts aka the über coll bloggers seems to me all against, while the masses love them. Either way, we’re all for it. As long as they’re worn with a longer top or even a dress, like on the this picture.
